A day in Singapore

So I began my most recent journey in Singapore, which was a quick flight from Bangkok. I had been in Changi airport before, but not the city. I do have to say the Changi airport is one of the best one's I've been to, and it seems that the world agrees as it won Skytrax's award for 2013 as the best airport in the world.

I arrived in the evening and found the airport to be a breeze, super easy to go through customs and find the subway to head into the city. I would have to say that my initial feelings about Singapore were: clean, modern and expensive.

It actually felt like I was in Canada. Going into a 7-11 convenience store and having to pay the equivalent of about $2 USD for a 500ml bottle of water can make you feel that way I guess.

I had a busy itinerary mapped out, and there wasn't a lot of time in my budget for this grand city. We had an ambitious 10 days planned to work our way back up the coast and into Thailand. So we had one night in Singapore, which isn't a lot, we quickly saw the highlights of the CBD the next morning before we left the following afternoon by bus to head into Malaysia.

I still need to go to Universal Studios, check out Sentosa Island and do the "night Safari" to finish off my Singapore bucket list. I feel like it's in my destiny to return, and with 3 low cost airlines flying between Bangkok and here I don't see it being difficult to stage a return!
