Bangkok’s VW Combi

We all know the best pricing food in Thailand is found in the street vendor, so of course if we want cheap drinks, follow the same theory; look for a Combi!  This is the place where a bucket of pretty much any mixed drink you can think of will cost you about 200 baht, of course these rock bottom prices mean that the liquor is not top rate.  They are however great value for your money.  They also come complete with a great seat to people watch on one of Bangkok’s best party streets, Sukhumvit Soi 11! A normal old Volkswagen van makes itself noticeably Thai by being converted with a mandatory plethora of lights, as well as a great sound system into an amazing bar on wheels. Pop tops, neon lights, and don't forget disco balls are what these combi’s are all about!

The best and most distinguished (read expensive) bars in Bangkok can be found on Sukhumvit Soi 11, and these little vans seem to be the perfect jumping off point for an evening. Showcasing again that Thailand is a place for all budgets, the cheapest and most expensive booze can be found on the same street.

A VW combi is not the place to impress a date, but if you want to take an old friend or a pile of mates and challenge each other to a game of “Connect Four”,  than you’ve found the right place. Take the BTS to Nana, and if it’s after dark than the Combi’s should be out. Pull up a stool and enjoy the perfect place to enjoy the view and watch the street!
