Reflections on South Korea
So it's been a couple of months since I've returned from Korea. I do have to say I went there with a lot of pre-conceptions. The only people I knew who had spent any time there taught English, and the only other remarkable standout is that it's the land of the Samsung phone and the Gangnam Style dance. I'm happy to say my journey was more than K-pop, and cell-phone shopping (which I did none of) but an exploration of the country and it's people.
Now back in Thailand, and in reflection, South Korea has a lot more to offer than that which is widely known. I enjoyed the big city, the beach town, the forests full of hiking paths and relaxing locals, and a distinct culture. Bullet trains we're my transport of choice and it's a stress free, easy way to travel efficiently around. Having just under a week there I felt it wasn't quite enough time to explore, and I'm yearning to head back.
If you're keen on seeing more photos head on over to my Smug Mug site for a great overview. In Seoul, I felt like I was in a big clean Asian city, getting out of the city, is where I found the most enjoyment. There, everything feels authentic. I can't wait to go back.
