The King's Birthday - Dec 5th - Song Phra Chareon

Today in Thailand, is King Bhumibol Adulyadej's Birthday, the whole city is a sea of people wearing yellow shirts for him. Yellow is the king's colour.

He did a speech for his birthday today, he addressed hundreds of thousands of people. It's only the sixth time in history he has done this, which is incredible for a monarch that has been the King for over 60 Years.  Here is a link to a great video of his speech.  It is all in Thai, but afterwards there are great views of the crowd that was in attendance, and the Royal Family.

Long live the King

The Thai's absolutely love their King! It's even a National Holiday today! As he is "Father of the Nation" it's Father's day as well.  It's great to see him out in the city, as he currently resides in the Siriraj Hospital.
