Where to find the best public toilets in Bangkok.
I may have just found the greatest FREE public toilets in Bangkok, in a truly unique shopping mall. In Bangkok, you have a choice of over 20 great malls, so with fierce competition they need to set themselves apart. I think the secret just may be the public restrooms.
Anyone who’s spent a week in this city knows that good public toilets are a rare find, Terminal 21 would definitely win a prize if there was a competition. They're are big, clean, have paper, soap and have Japanese style electronic toilets, and FREE! I think this may make me change my feelings about going to MBK forevermore.
Terminal 21 is one of the newer Bangkok shopping malls, and it opened in October 2011. Besides the toilets, the mall itself has a really cool concept, each floor is a different theme. Starting from the bottom with Caribbean, you move up through Rome, Paris, Tokyo, London, Istanbul, two floors of San Francisco (one is China Town, the other is the Pier) and you end on the the top floor in Hollywood where you find a Cinema.
Terminal 21 sets itself apart from the "ordinary" malls with it's travel theme. One thing that stands out is the ambiance, they have taken their time with the details, the layout of the mall is very open, spacious and clean. It also contains the largest escalator in Thailand, it can be seen from the street outside. In my visit there last weekend I took many photos of some of the more amazing details, like the sculptures, the paintings on the ceiling from Rome, the Union Jacks from London, the anchor from the Caribbean and the big Oscar statue.
