The mighty Leviathan

The first big hill of Leviathan

It could be said that I'm a thrill seeker, and I've always loved roller coasters. So one of the biggest things on my checklist before leaving Toronto (To move to Asia) was a visit to Canada's Wonderland to ride the newly completed Leviathan.  The Leviathan is a roller coaster that is brand new to Canada's Wonderland that opened in May this year.  I was excited to see and ride it because it's specs make it the tallest and fastest roller coaster in Canada.  Here is a look the statistics of this ride that cost over 28 million dollars to build:

Track Length

approx. 5,486' (1,672m)

Lift Height

approx. 306' (93.3m)

Angle of Descent

approx. 80°

Ride Time

approx. 3 min., 28 seconds

Speed of First Drop

approx. 92 mph (148 km/h)

Manufacturer

Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M)

Monthey, Switzerland

My friend was just as excited as me for this roller coaster so we both planned a day to head to the park.  Anticipation made sure that we were both up early so we decided to meet for breakfast while waiting for the park to open.  We showed up at the front gate 1/2 hour before parking opening time and stood under the track of Leviathan waiting to get inside. Standing at the front gate all you can see is the turnstiles, ticket booth and the huge hammerhead turn of the Leviathan. If that isn't a sure way to drum up excitement than I don't know what is!

I brought my camera with me to record a video of our first ride of the day.  We decided to wait an extra 10 minutes or so to ensure that we were in the very front car. (You can watch my video below)  What immediately stands out is the speed of this ride, there are three trains going that take 36 people at a time, making it a pretty short wait time. It's great that this coaster is a people mover because it is definitely the flagship ride of this park.  Another bonus is the restraints, as the ride doesn't loop there is only a lap bar. Any coaster junkie can tell you, no one likes their head bouncing off the over the shoulder restraint systems.

My conclusion, If you are in the Toronto area get yourself to this park! It will get your adrenaline pumping guaranteed
